Materials you will need:

  1. Modge Podge
  2. Glitter
  3. Jars
  4. Newspaper
  5. Paint Brush
  6. Frog tape
  7. Ribbon

Lay a sheet of newspaper in your work area to prevent glitter getting everywhere and damaging your furniture.

Firstly wrap the frog tape where you do not want your glitter. In this case I put it around the top of the jar, as I wanted this to be clear glass, ready for me to add ribbon later. If you are slightly more adventurous, you could add it diagonally, or create a different design.

Starting at the bottom of the jar where the glass is still visible, use your paint brush and apply Modge Podge where you want the glitter, whilst making sure that you add an even amount, but not too thick that its dripping.

You will then pour the glitter over the jar, back and forth, trying to sprinkle as evenly as possible. Previously I have tried to roll the jar into a pot of glitter, however I have found that it creates clumps/balls of glitter and it does not look pretty.

After you’ve covered the entire jar with glitter, tap the jar on your newspaper a couple times to let some loose glitter excess fall off. Let it dry for at least two hours then lightly brush the jar with a paint brush.

Do this lightly so you don’t take chunks of glitter off with the brush. This will help minimise shedding  loose glitter before you top coat. Use Modge Podge as a Top coat at least 3 or 4 times , the more coats the less shedding.

Once the jar has dried, peel off the frog tape and add the ribbon around the top of the jar.

In this instance I used them as vases for my wedding flowers, however you could also use them as candle holders.
